Called by Jesus to love our neighbors as our selves, Trinity Cathedral is home to ministries dedicated to providing food and necessities to our unhoused neighbors, including a feeding ministry which cooks food two Saturdays a month for distribution to local shelters. Volunteers for our ministries are always needed and welcomed. Contact us to learn more.
Additionally, you can now serve our homeless and underserved neighbors on site six days a week through Front Door Communities or Octavia's Kitchen. Check their websites or send a note to Deacon Bertram Nagarajah.
We are also proud to provide support to Santa Maria Urban Ministry.
Under the direction of Adrien Cotta, our cathedral choir inspires and invigorates our worship with sublime renderings of musical pieces ancient and modern. Between September and July, the choir meets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings. Additional rehearsals take place at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays prior to the 10:30 a.m. service.
Trinity Cathedral is the only church in the Bay Area with a working carillon in its bell tower. Our musicians play musical selections on its 24 bells before and after each 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. On Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, the carillon team plays concerts of sacred and secular music for the community to enjoy from St. James Park.
We happily welcome members of our community to join us in sharing in music for our services. Beginners and experts are welcome, no prior experience needed, just a willing attitude. Please contact us for more details.
In keeping with our Episcopal tradition, Trinity Cathedral highly values lifelong education. In addition to our Sunday School for children, we offer catechism classes and adult education.
Members of our clergy lead adult education sessions on a variety of topics, such as the bible, prayer, and spirituality. Trinity Cathedral also is home to the Theological Expeditions seminar, a venue for theological reading and discussion in which theology is viewed as an adventure of discovery.
Upcoming education series are prominently advertised on our homepage.
"Harmonious" was established at Trinity Cathedral in 2024. We are a young-adult ministry led by young adults (ages 18 to about 35) which emphasizes education, building friendships, and community engagement. We meet on Tuesday evenings at the cathedral and host events such as retreats and holiday celebrations.
If you have any interest in the Episcopal Church and finding a new group of friends, we would love to connect with you. You usually can find us in person at the coffee hour between the 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Sunday services. You can also connect with us on our Discord server: https://discord.gg/uu9cCYycUg.
Harmonious is currently led by Trinity "Trin" Hall, a student, musician, artist, and cathedral vestry and choir member born in 2000, and John Wagas, a 2023 graduate of San Jose State University and a postulant for Holy Orders.
